Little Barton Farmhouse, Kent

Little Barton is a Grade II listed farmhouse and outbuildings that needed modernisation. Our client wished to undertake an extensive programme of refurbishment, together with conversion of redundant outbuildings into living accommodation, and the demolition and replacement of an existing garage.

Listed building consent had already been granted when we were appointed. We worked closely with the contractor and client to carry out detailed design, in order to obtain approval for the conditions attached to the listed building consent. This included production of detailed construction sections and large-scale joinery details, as well as specifications. We then liaised with the council’s Conservation Officer to reach agreement for acceptable proposals. Original features, such as the brewing ovens and timber roof structures, were sensitively restored.
